Tennis legend congratulates Lewis Hamilton on his record breaking week in Barcelona

It was a record breaking weekend for 7-time World Champion Lewis Hamiton. On Saturday, he clinched his 100th Pole position, a feat no other driver in the history of sport has achieved. And then on Sunday, on account of a Mercedes strategy masterclass as he worked a 2-stop race to claim his 98th race win.

Hamilton is a role model all across the globe and has many fans across all sports. His dear friend and tennis legend, Serena Williams congratulated the British driver for his acievement. Serena congratulated him through her Instagram Stories. Alongside a poster of the driver, she wrote –“Congrats @LewisHamilton on making 100 Poles!!”

The 23-times grand slam champion has many times stated that she regards Hamilton as one of the greatest drivers of all time. “He is for me the greatest driver that our generation has seen,” she had earlier said.

After his win on Sunday, Hamilton has now the best start to a F1 season. He has 94 points in 4 faces and leads Max Verstappen by 14 points. After taking his 100th pole position on Saturday, it was the 59th time Hamilton has converted pole into a win.

It was Lewis’ 5th consecutive Spanish Grand Prix win which ties him with Ayrton Senna’s record for the most consecutive wins at a single venue – the Brazilian took 5 in a row at Monaco.

The F1 calendar moves to the historic Circuit de Monaco in a couple of weeks. After missing out last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, F1 will be back on the streets of Monaco.
