Find Out: Serena Williams’ schedule for the Clay season

23-time grand slam champion Serena Williams is probably the G.O.A.T. when we talk about tennis in the modern era. She has dominated women’s tennis for almost 2 decades and is well-known for her powerful winners.

The 39-year old last appeared at February’s Australian Open, where she fell short to eventual champion Naomi Osaka in the semifinals. She defeated some big names in Melbourne and showed her class despite her age.

She will be targeting the French Open next to take the all-time grand slam lead. She has won at Paris three times previously- 2002,2013 and 2015.

Serena Williams will begin her clay training this week at the Mouratoglou Academy in Nice. Patrick Mouratoglou, Serena’s coach shared that she will play a warm-up event in Rome before competing at the Paris major- The Roland Garros.

But Mouratoglou pointed to her form in Australia as a signal that she is still competitive at the highest level. “In Australia, everyone saw that she was very sharp. Since having her daughter, this was her best moment,” he said.

The Internazionali BNL d’Italia at Rome is scheduled from May 10th-May 16th and will be a major hunting ground for all the top stars ahead of the French Open. Williams exited from last year’s French Open due to an Achilles injury in the second round against Tsvetana Pironkova.
