It seems Sergio Garcia is determined to play in the Ryder Cup this year. After missing out on the 2023 edition to suspension, the record point scorer for Team Europe sent an emphatic message to captain Luke Donald following victory in LIV Golf Hong Kong.
The veteran golfer had expressed his desire to play in this biennial event once again. With him being allowed to participate again, Garcia is hoping to be on the plane with the European team for the Bethpage Course in New York later this year.
After carding scores of 65 and 64 in the opening two rounds, Garcia was looking to keep the momentum going. In the final round, he went head-to-head with Phil Mickelson as the two veterans seemingly turned back the clock.
Garcia eventually finished the round 7-under and posted a score of 63. He finished the event 18-under, three strokes ahead of runner-up Dean Burmester and four strokes ahead of Mickelson to claim his 2nd LIV Golf title.
While speaking with Dom Boulet after this win, the 45-year-old spoke on his chances of making it to the Ryder Cup squad. He revealed that he had been in touch with Luke Donald and hoped to continue perform like he did this week.
I think he’s watching. We’ve been in touch, so I know that he’s keeping an eye. The only thing I can do is keep playing good golf. I just want to help the European team like I’ve tried to do every single time I’ve been a member of that team. Hopefully he will think I’m good enough for it.

It was a double victory for Garcia as his side, Fireballs GC, won the team event. With their win in Adelaide last month, the team has now won back-to-back team events. They are now the first team in LIV Golf history to win both the individual and team championship on 3 different occasions.
Sergio Garcia to make major milestone at 2025 Masters Tournament
In the past 12 months, Sergio Garcia has once again climbed to the top in the golfing world. His resurgence in form has now seen him take 2 LIV Golf titles and achieve some top-10 finishes. He is now set to make a major milestone at the 2025 Masters Tournament.

Garcia will enter the 2025 Masters Tournament as one of the defending champions. 18 years after becoming a professional, the Spanish international finally claimed major glory when he won the Masters back in 2017.
8 years since that famous triumph, Garcia will accomplish a major achievement. His start at the 2025 Masters Tournament will be his 100th major start. Last year, he tried to make the Open Championship at Royal Troon his 100th start but he failed to qualify for the event.
Before his appearance at the Augusta National, Garcia has expressed confidence of winning another major championship. If he does manage to win one, he will become the second oldest player after Phil Mickelson to win a major title.
