El Chirungino TV in an exclusive report stated that Florentino Perez willing to let go of Sergio Ramos at the end of the 2020/21 season. This will come as severely shocking news to fans of Real Madrid as a loss of their iconic captain will change their team completely. Nothing is concrete as of now and things will become clear as things reach the business end of the season.
Age not at his side
By the time the 2020/21 season gets over, Sergio Ramos will be 35 years old. Most players who play at the highest level retire around this age to protect their bodies. However that would be a bizarre admission as Liverpool’s James Milner will be 36 when his contract gets over at Liverpool. Milner is a versatile player who has played across midfield, left back, right back and centre-back for Liverpool. He is Jurgen Klopp’s Mr. Fix-It whenever one of his players gets injured in the defence.
It is unlikely that Sergio Ramos will feel the pressure of age as he is still the world’s best central defender. However it has been noticed that Florentino Perez has the habit of giving only 12 month contract extensions for players over the age of 30. Ramos and his camp want a 2 year extension and this is where talks are stalled. Paris Saint-Germain are willing to give him a better contract and higher wages to tempt him there.
The outlet which reported this news also reports that Florentino Perez is ready to give a two year extension. However the terms of that contract will be lesser than what PSG offers. As it stands Perez won’t block a move to PSG for Ramos, although Ramos wants to retire at Real Madrid. A two year contract will see him retire at the age of 37 for the Galaticos.
Whatever happens, Real Madrid will be keen to avoid the same mistake they made by allowing Cristiano Ronaldo to leave. Goals dried up at the Spanish team and letting Ramos leave means that they will his leadership and inspiration.
