Seth Rollins can’t help but dwell on what could have been the case at this year’s WrestleMania if he hadn’t gotten injured last October. The ripple effects of his shoulder injury have placed his most-hated rival, CM Punk, in a position that Rollins was dreaming of: main eventing WrestleMania with the World Heavyweight title around his waist.

‘The Visionary’ joined the Boston Herald for a chat and expressed his views on CM Punk being the one defending the world title against another one of his career-long rivals in Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42. First and foremost, ‘The Architect’ said he was extremely proud knowing that the World Heavyweight Championship is, in all likelihood, going to be featured in the main event of WrestleMania on Sunday, which he considered the true main event of WrestleMania over its Saturday counterpart.

Rollins brought up how Reigns and many fans have time and again downplayed it as a secondary title or a mere consolation prize since the moment it was introduced in 2023. ‘The Visionary’ stressed that it was extremely important to prevent Reigns from monopolizing the world title picture at a time when he took up a part-time schedule. Rollins said so because ‘The Tribal Chief’ wasn’t going to be around enough to build new talent.

Rollins has been salty about it to this day, but he did say that Reigns has earned the right to show up on his terms. The OTC’s drastically light WWE schedule caused the company to come up with the World Heavyweight Championship, which came into existence with the promise of creating more opportunities for the underutilized members of the roster. Seth Rollins became the inaugural champion by defeating AJ Styles at Night of Champions in 2023.

‘The Drip God’ held it for 316 days before dropping it to Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania XL. Rollins did everything in his power to make the World Heavyweight title seem on par with the Undisputed WWE title. While he’s mighty proud of it main-eventing night two of WrestleMania 42, some bittersweet feelings are also there, as both of his fierce rivals are duking it out for the title and not him.

Seth Rollins puts emphasis on the need to create new stars with previous WWE generation aging out

In the same conversation, Seth Rollins stressed the need for WWE to create new stars, as its previous set of top-tier wrestlers are starting to leave, with John Cena and AJ Styles being the prime examples of it. Rollins himself is pushing his 40s. The men he mentioned above, Roman Reigns (40) and CM Punk (47), are also coming to terms with the majority of their careers behind them.

In essence, there’s soon going to be a void in the uppermost echelon of existing top-level stars in WWE, with most of them inching closer to the end of their careers. Seth Rollins stated that his goal has always been leaving WWE a better place than it was when he came in. He’s well aware of an entire generation of stars aging out, and now is the time to lay the foundation for the next crop of household names in WWE.

It’s not like the company is devoid of any promising prospects. In fact, WWE has a goldmine of talent ready to break out if nurtured the right way. The likes of Oba Femi and Trick Williams have already created huge splashes on the main roster within months of their promotion to Raw and SmackDown, respectively.

They’re pegged as sure-shot world champions, and the fans have caught on to their entrances pretty well. Speaking of what role Rollins could play in helping the next generation of stars get ready for the spotlight, he’s very likely to assume a backstage role in WWE after hanging up his wrestling boots for good. Many fans are even backing him to take up a significant position in the creative machinery of the company.
