The breakup of The Shield was one of the most shocking moments in WWE history. To this day, there has been debate regarding the timing of the split. Regardless of what fans think, however, Seth Rollins continues to maintain that it was the opportunistic time for him to betray his brothers, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose, now known as Jon Moxley.

While speaking with Stephen Nelson on SportsCenter, Rollins admitted that it was something that always resonated with him. The Visionary stated that he wouldn’t go back in time to change what transpired. The former Universal Champion explained that they lived up to their promise of running the show together. Moreover, all three former members have dominated the wrestling scene individually since their breakup.

On the June 2, 2014 edition of Raw, Rollins betrayed his brothers by ambushing both Moxley and Reigns with a steel chair. The Architect would join forces with Triple H and The Authority, embarking on his journey as a singles wrestler. More than two years later, all three members made history when they held the WWE Championship on the same night.

My answer is unequivocally no. I wouldn't, because where we are now in the business as a whole, it's healthier than it's ever been, and that moment in time is what shifted everything.

The Shield would end up reuniting a couple of times before Jon Moxley departed WWE in April 2019. Meanwhile, Roman Reigns finally found his groove after years of struggling by becoming The Tribal Chief in 2020. As for Rollins, he has found similar success, having won multiple world titles.

Seth Rollins has a special role in store for him at SummerSlam

On the latest episode of Raw, Rollins explained the rules to both superstars, telling them that all they had to do was “listen” to him. In addition to that, The Visionary vowed to remain impartial, given that he equally hates McIntyre and Punk.

Raw General Manager Adam Pearce made the decision to appoint Rollins as a special guest referee. According to the latter, he had to step up after no referee was willing to officiate their bout. Nonetheless, fans are expecting the former Universal Champion to play a key role in the anticipated battle.
