The injury bug has once again claimed a top WWE star, and this time, it is Seth Rollins. At the 40th edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event, ‘The Visionary’ messed up his knee off a high-risk maneuver against LA Knight. Rollins landed awkwardly on his feet while performing a Lionsault on Knight by ricocheting from the second rope. However, his right knee twisted the moment he made contact with the ring canvas.

At that point, the Chicago Bears buff was done for. He was immediately attended by a WWE doctor along with the referee. ‘The Visionary’ was in visible pain and had a conversation with Paul Heyman while clutching his leg in the corner. In what seemed to be an impromtpu ending, Rollins decided he could go but ended up eating a BFT from Knight and lost. After the match, the Iowa native had to be helped to the back by a couple of staffers.

As one could see in the aforementioned video, Rollins dropped an F-bomb, expressing frustration over the fact that he got injured. ‘The Revolutionary’ has had a history of knee issues over the years in WWE. He infamously tore his ACL, MCL, and Meniscus in the same right knee back in November 2015 in a house show against Kane in Dublin.

The injury was so intense that Rollins was forced to relinquish his WWE title and miss WrestleMania 32. And for those wondering if Rollins’ SNME incident was a work of some sort, it’s not. Several media outlets have reported that the injury suffered by the former Shield member is legitimate.

However, at this point, the severity of it is unknown. Also, as per PWInsider, ‘The Architect’ was originally set to beat Knight. But due to unforeseen circumstances, things had to be rearranged for ‘The Megastar’ to win instead. Albeit going by his reactions, the former Eli Drake wasn’t elated by how everything panned out at the end.

Will Seth Rollins have to relinquish his Money in the Bank briefcase?

Time will dictate how seriously hurt Seth Rollins is after Saturday Night’s Main Event scare. But if he actually gets sidelined for months, which can’t be ruled out, what would it possibly do to his distinction of Mr. Money in the Bank? Rollins may have to relinquish the briefcase if such a situation arises. Or what if he decides to bestow it on Bron Breakker?

Rollins took Breakker under his tutelage, claiming that he’s the future of WWE. One may argue that it’s no different with Bronson Reed as well. However, ‘The Unpredictable Badass’ was the first recruit of ‘The Visionary’ after he aligned with Paul Heyman at WrestleMania 41. Speaking of the latter, he recently informed Reed on Raw that Rollins had been perfecting their plan B.

Upon asking what exactly it meant, Breakker chimed in and never allowed ‘The Oracle’ to educate Reed on the matter. It appeared as if the former Wolfdogs member wasn’t keen on letting ‘The Auszilla’ know what Heyman was alluding to. So, with Breakker apparently the superior of the two in the group, he does stand a bright chance of replacing Rollins in his role if the latter gets taken off the road due to the aforementioned knee injury.

What alternatives could WWE go with at SummerSlam if Seth Rollins bows out?

As SummerSlam is merely three weeks away, there’s just not enough time for Seth Rollins to heal up, even if his knee injury doesn’t end up being that serious. Unfortunately, his participation in ‘The Biggest Party of the Summer’ has come under a great deal of doubt.

He was previously slated to join forces with his henchmen against Roman Reigns and his allies, but that might have to be scrapped now. In that case, ‘The OTC’ could go one-on-one with the man who absolutely mauled him on Raw after WrestleMania 41—Bron Breakker.

That would be a money match and quite possibly be a passing of the torch moment for the Steiner descendant. Also, CM Punk, who had yet to settle his differences with Rollins’ crew, may segue into a world title feud with Gunther. ‘The Best in the World’ shoved ‘The Ring General’ to the mat on one of the recent editions of Raw.
