Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had a decent season last year but they missed out on making it to the playoffs narrowly. Despite the relatively disappointing Indian Premier League (IPL) season, KKR chose not to change their side at the auction too much. Their biggest signing was Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan who was picked for 3.2 crores at the auction. Further, the spin attack was strengthened with the arrival of Harbhajan Singh.

Shakib’s signing and his subsequent decision to prioritize the IPL over playing tests for Bangladesh came under some controversy. But, the Bangladeshi ace stated that he was playing in the IPL in order to prepare himself for the upcoming T20 World Cup and that he only had his nation’s best interests in mind while making the decision.

Shakib Al Hasan answered questions in a video from ESPNcricinfo where he was asked as to what he is aiming for in this year’s IPL. “Contributing to the team’s winning cause and scoring a hundred and getting a five-for in the same match,” the Bangladeshi said.

Shakib was then asked as to which team he looks forward to playing in the IPL. His answer was “Mumbai Indians“. The player he look forward to facing this year was Jofra Archer. However, the English pacer is set to miss at least the first half of the IPL after he suffered a freak injury.
