Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe criticized LSU’s head coach for poor decisions in the USC game, as he seemingly deflected blame onto himself.

Shannon Sharpe wasn’t having any of Brian Kelly’s apologies after LSU lost to USC in their opening game. The NFL Hall of Famer wanted to see some accountability from Kelly instead of cooking up excuses for the loss.
During Monday’s segment of ESPN’s First Take, Sharpe put Kelly on a pedestal after the Tigers’ 27-20 loss to the 23rd-ranked Trojans. In the presser, Kelly smacked the table in anger and blamed the game for going out of their hands because he failed to control the flow.
Kelly concluded that he wasn’t doing a good enough job as the Tigers head coach. Sharpe thought it was embarrassing for the veteran coach.
I think it’s Bulls**t [and] I think he should’ve led with what he finished with. ‘I’m not doing a good enough job.’ He did the exact same thing last year when Florida State thumped them. ‘Clearly, we’re not the team that I thought we were.’ No, you’re not the coach that you thought you were.Shannon Sharpe ranted
The Tigers gave away 10 penalties in the game, which cost them 100 yards and a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
You either coach that behavior or you condone that type of behavior. But how about this, ‘Oh, their quarterback outplayed ours.’ Lincoln Riley out-coached you.Shannon Sharpe added

Shannon Sharpe advised Brian Kelly to conduct himself like successful coaches do
It may only be one game, but the result can easily make or break the Tigers’ season. Kelly may have accepted that some of his calls did not work out, but Sharpe retorted that they could have avoided it if all the players were on the same page.
The really great coaches—look at Dabo [Swinny Clemson head coach]. When he got thumped by Georgia, he said, ‘That’s coaching. That’s on me.’ Coach Saban used to do it all the time. The [really] good coaches... the coaches that can get to their players and get them to understand, even if a player makes a mistake.Shannon Sharpe said
In the 3x Super Bowl winners’ view, Kelly should have drilled discipline into his players. They made the same mistakes as last year, and it’s a coaching problem, not a player problem.
These are undoubtedly harsh words from Sharpe, but any Tigers’ fans would perhaps agree with everything he said. The defeat to USC means Kelly has now lost three consecutive opening-day college football fixtures.
