‘Baffled’ Shannon Sharpe lashes out at Rui Hachimura for missing so many easy layups against the Nuggets in Game 2: “Maybe he talked to Michael Porter Jr.’s brother”
Shannon Sharpe wants the rest of the Lakers players to step up in order to save the series.
Shannon Sharpe and Rui Hachimura
The Los Angeles Lakers’ loss to the Denver Nuggets in Game 2 has upset a lot of fans and analysts who were expecting a win. Shannon Sharpe is one such analyst who was banking on his favored team to even the series before heading home. But after the loss, he went on a scathing attack on Rui Hachimura for missing easy layups.
Debating about the game on First Take, Shannon Sharpe started by dissecting what all went wrong for the Los Angeles Lakers. Then he switched to talk about Rui Hachimura.
Rui, I don't know maybe he talked to Michael Porter Jr.'s brother. Because I think he took the under, on the 10 points the betting sites had him. I'm saying that tongue and cheek. But bro, how you miss that many easy layups. How you have 3 points.Shannon Sharpe said
Even though he did not mean that Hachimura had any insider betting help, it did baffle the Hall of Famer that he missed easy layups in the 2nd half. Sharpe thinks his misses contributed to the Lakers eventually losing.
The former All-Pro tight end turned analyst was trying to figure out how the rest of the players on the Los Angeles Lakers went cold in the final minutes. Had they even contributed to a few shots down the road, it would have helped them to maintain the lead.
The host of the show Stephen A. Smith also chimed in to call out Hachimura. He said that coming up with 3 points in an important game such as this was baffling. Smith said that the lack of production from the 6-year veteran and Austin Reaves were the reasons the Lakers lost.
Shannon Sharpe suggests Lakers superstars need help from others in coming games
During his analogy, Shannon Sharpe mentioned that LeBron James and Anthony Davis provided as much as they could. He was full of praise for D’Angelo Russell for turning around his game 1 slump to provide lights-out scoring. However, along with Rui Hachimura, Sharpe was critical of the rest of the Lakers squad.
He mentioned that the superstars are doing what they can. Therefore, only if the rest of the squad contributes can they win against the Denver Nuggets. The defending champions possess a starting 5 that can dominate games. The only answer is that the Los Angeles Lakers starting 5 also do the same.
Hopefully, the words of these analysts fall on their ears. Else the Lakers will be staring at an early exit from the playoffs.
