Shaquille O’Neal is known for his nonchalant and straightforward personality on and off the court. During his playing days, he was a proper menace and a bully. Throwing players under the rim and fouling them was his trademark move. Interestingly, the big man recently opened up on the current NBA player Rudy Gobert.
Hearing Gobert’s name rings an alarm bell among the NBA fans and O’Neal because this is one player that the former NBA player dislikes from many years ago. O’Neal doesn’t consider or rate Gobert at all. He gets on his nerves all the time, so much so that the star and O’Neal have had many back-and-forths in the past as well.
The four-time NBA champion has been highly critical of Gobert in the past. Now, he went at him during his podcast show.
I f**king hate Rudy Gobert. That motherf**ker makes $250 million [$110 million] and he doesn’t deserve it, dawg. F**k that. As the President of the ‘Big Man Alliance,’ if you’re making big money, play like a big man. If Rudy Gobert gets into the Hall of Fame, I’ll wear this dress to the motherf**king ceremony.

Shaq is going all out and making this wild bet regarding Gobert surely garnered immense attention from the NBA community. For some, the hate towards Gobert does not sit well, considering the accolades the Timberwolves star has racked up in the NBA.
Gobert receives the roughest treatment from Shaq, who is known for being harsh on contemporary NBA big players. In addition to Gobert’s massive three-year $110 million contract (he has earned over $400 million in his career), O’Neal is upset with the Frenchman for his flimsy and “graceful” style of play.
Even though Gobert has won three All-Star selections and four Defensive Player of the Year awards, he lacks Shaq, Joel Embiid, and even Victor Wembanyama‘s physical prowess. His approach is more subtle and is based on placement, timing, and rim protection. But it’s even more reason to question his influence on winning when he hasn’t won a single championship.
Fans left confused by Shaquille O’Neal’s recent rant towards Rudy Gobert
As soon as Rudy Gobert’s name came up on the recent segment of Shaquille O’Neal’s The Big Podcast, the fans present in the room had quick laughs because they knew what the NBA big man would say about him.
Over the years, O’Neal has been highly critical of Gobert and the way he plays the game, especially because he was a big man as well, just like Gobert. However, the latter does not play anything like how O’Neal used to, and this is something that does not sit right with Shaq.
That said, O’Neal’s recent criticism about Gobert, as mentioned above, did not sit well with many NBA fans this time around, especially via the social media reactions. The majority of them took to various NBA apps and sites to put forward their views on O’Neal’s recent rant towards Rudy Gobert.
Some of them claimed that O’Neal would lose the bet because Gobert is surely making it into the NBA Hall of Fame. One fan wrote on X, “Better go ahead and start choosing one.” Check out some of the reactions below:

As for Gobert, he won’t be recognized for his incredible stats, since his career averages were 12.6 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. Rather, the French star will be honored for his defensive contributions in the game.
Shaquille O’Neal made an interesting claim about the GOAT debate in the NBA
As with any sport, the GOAT controversy always seems to incite animosity within the NBA. From the legendary Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, to the ever-reliant LeBron James, the conversations about the GOAT debate have no end. Amidst all of this, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal does not think former great Wilt Chamberlain should be part of this debate.
Naw, I don’t think so, He only had two.
Shaquille O’Neal said on his podcast

Instead of criticizing Chamberlain’s style of play, Shaq used “ring culture” to support his argument. A topic that has caught a lot of attention lately, with James also speaking on the ‘ring culture,’ dismissing it in the process. Despite that, Shaq chose to stick with the ring culture in this case.
