NBA Hall of Famer, Shaquille O’Neal is generally a fun-loving person. One who also ensures to make the random person he meets happy merely with his presence and his kindness. That has led to many wanting to be around the 4-time NBA Champion. However, sometimes he goes a bit too far, without realizing the impact.

The Big Aristotle sent out a video message to Israeli children who were the victims of the October 7th attack. The video, shared by Israel’s official X account had him saying:

Camp Timberlane! Hello. Shalom! This is Shaquille O’Neal. I just wanted to give you guys a shout out and let you know I love you. To all the amazing children from The One family, I know you came from far, far away. Hope you’re having a good time. We love you so very much. Thank you for coming. And we’ll talk to you soon.

O’Neal was just trying to do what he usually does. That is to be a source of cheer and happiness to kids. Especially as they are children who were victims of the October 7 massacre.

It seems Camp Timberlane is hosting those children as part of the Creative Community for Peace’s efforts to bring semblance to their lives. The children coming from Israel either were affected directly or had lost their family members in the October 7th Massacre by Hamas.

The non-profit is trying to bring some semblance of hope into the lives of those boys. They might have roped in Shaquille O’Neal, often known to embrace such events, in the hopes of making their stay at Camp Timberlane filled with joy.

Fans not appreciative of Shaquille O’Neal’s stance

Fans on the internet did not see it that way. For an NBA celebrity of Shaquille O’Neal‘s stature, who generally stays ‘apolitical’, many were surprised that he took to help the children from Israel. The notion around the world is that the country is the reason for the war situation in Gaza. Israel and their people are facing protests from every corner of the world for their hand in the Middle Eastern crisis.

Hence, fans did not appreciate the former NBA MVP taking a side. They took to social media to vent their frustrations. Check out some of those reactions below:
