Shaquille O'Neal blasts Karl-Anthony Towns

After losing 116-107 to the Dallas Mavericks on May 26 night, the Minnesota Timberwolves are currently 0-3 in the 2024 Western Conference Finals. The Timberwolves scored 50.6% from the field as a unit, but one of their star players, Karl-Anthony Towns, did not. As such, he faced the wrath of NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal for his poor performance throughout the game.

Karl-Anthony Towns played one of his worst games in game 3 of the WCF Playoff Finals against the Mavs. Notably, Shaquille O’Neal bashed Towns for his poor performance. Moreover, his poor performance enabled the Mavs to take over the game.

After you shoot 2 threes, and it don’t go down, take your big a** in the lane and do what Chuck has been talking about. When you’ve got a 1-2 punch, both (Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns) of them have to play great.

So far, the Mavs have looked fantastic. While Anthony Edwards has attempted to find alternative methods to assist the Timberwolves when he cannot get the attack going, Towns has had trouble doing so. Towns shot 6-20, with 2-9 from three in Game 1. He shot 4-16 on 1-5 three-point in Game 2 and got significantly worse in Game 3. Hence, O’Neal felt KAT greatly cost his team in the series.

It remains to be if Towns can respond in a convincing fashion. After all, his team faces elimination and needs to get a win back to extend the series. As such, KAT and Edwards must bring their A-Game in the next matchup at the American Airlines Centre in Dallas.

Timberwolves’ coach has a ‘simple’ message for his star duo Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns

The Minnesota Timberwolves were completely outclassed by the Dallas Mavericks in game 3 of the WCF Playoff Finals. The Timberwolves’ star duo, Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns struggling throughout remains a prime reason. KAT has struggled to find his shooting touch all throughout the series.

In addition, the Timberwolves coach, Chris Finch, provided his star duo with different instructions, as per ESPN reporter Dave McMenamin. It is safe to say that the message had no complexity around it.

It’s been pretty simple. Ant, you got to speed it up. KAT, you got to slow it down.

These instructions provided by Finch seemed to not work as KAT once again struggled with his shooting. KAT’s struggles ultimately cost his team plenty of momentum. As such, the Timberwolves now have the daunting task of coming back from 0 – 3.
