The UFC Middleweight fighter Julian Marquez returned to the Octagon almost after 2 and ½ years in the fight against Maki Pitolo at UFC 258. He last fought against Alessio Di Chirico in July 2018.

In that fight, Marquez faced a defeat at the hands of Chirico by a split decision and after that, he faced a serious injury that ruled him out of the sport for a long time. Stakes were high for Julian Marquez as he entered the Octagon as an underdog.

Maki Pitolo looked so good in the starting round and Marquez took quite a beating but as the fight proceeds, Marquez finds home for his shots. With these, in the third round, Marquez caught Pitolo with an anaconda choke and won the fight.

This win took him quite a long time to come but he made it worth it by his unexpected callout to Miley Cyrus to be his valentine. In the post-fight interview, Marquez says,

“Have been waiting for 31 months to get this mike and call these people and right now it’s my time to shine. So Miley Cyrus will you be my valentine?”
