Several sources recently reported that Miro had been released from AEW. He had signed with the company in September 2020, and his latest contract was reportedly going to expire in 2026. However, after getting an early departure from the company, it appears that he is already hanging out with some friends from WWE, such as Sheamus.
Sheamus posted a photo of himself and Miro on X. The lads could be seen enjoying a pint of Guinness. This photo immediately fired up the rumor mill. Many fans began speculating that the former AEW TNT Champion may be looking to make his return to WWE.
WWE was not the only company that carried out a round of talent cuts over the past week. It was recently reported that AEW had also let go of superstars like Aleister Black, Ricky Starks, and of course, Miro. The Absolute One has already debuted in NXT, not even 24 hours after the news of his release became public. Meanwhile, the other two superstars are also expected back in the Stamford-based promotion.

Sheamus has a lot of history with the erstwhile Rusev in WWE. These two superstars have faced off multiple times in the past, including for the United States Championship. Furthermore, they were also once part of a faction together called the League of Nations. This group also featured Wade Barrett and Alberto Del Rio. The group did not see much success at all, and many claimed that it was only formed to put over Roman Reigns.
Booker T claims that AEW should not have let Miro script his own promos
After joining AEW, Miro did some phenomenal character work, and his identity as ‘The Redeemer’ was one that had fans glued to their TV screens. His in-ring work further complemented this, but his promos were often considered subpar during this time.

Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T said that the Bulgarian’s promos often did not have a proper structure. He believed that letting a superstar like Miro script their own promos was not the way things should be done. He further brought up an analogy to prove his point. The 59-year-old mentioned how nobody can imagine Hollywood actors showing up with their own scripts to the set.
Going over there and not having a structure, letting a guy like Miro do his own promos, who do you think wrote those promos? That’s not a conducive way to go out and create and run a promotion.
Booker T on the Hall of Fame podcast
Thus, he felt that the former United States Champion leaving the WWE system to go to AEW only hurt him and other such guys, not help them. Booker T also thought that it did nothing to boost their star power or legacy at all.
