After the latest episode of SmackDown went off the air, CM Punk addressed the live crowd in the Heritage Bank Center. Moments later, he introduced Sheamus as Chad Gable‘s opponent in a dark match. The two former WWE Champions shared a warm embrace before Punk endorsed the Irish lad. Reacting to this on X, the 46-year-old lauded The Second City. However, not without taking a jab at Drew McIntyre.
Sheamus called out his ‘frenemy’ for praying for the downfall of the Best in the World. Since the latter’s return, McIntyre has made it his mission to remind the Chicago-born wrestler that he “broke” his WrestleMania dreams by injuring him. However, this obsession would come back to haunt The Scottish Warrior at the Showcase of Immortals.
This past week on Raw, Sheamus and Drew McIntyre faced off inside the ring. The Celtic King held his former tag team partner responsible for his own downfall. Moreover, he mocked the Scot for getting his “a*se” whooped by an injured CM Punk at WrestleMania. Evidently, this irked McIntyre as he joined the fans in bodyshaming Sheamus.
In the days that followed, the pair engaged in a back-and-forth social media feud of their own. And it is expected to escalate into an in-ring rivalry soon. As a matter of fact, McIntyre and Sheamus can settle their differences on the upcoming Backlash PLE in France.
Drew McIntyre signs new WWE contract
After months of speculation and anticipation, Drew McIntyre has finally put pen to paper on his WWE contract. Surprisingly, The Rock broke the news on his Instagram account. Later, reports confirmed that WWE and McIntyre reached an agreement 2-3 days ago.
Obviously, this is a huge deal for The Scottish Warrior, who has become one of the most intriguing characters on television. The 38-year-old will be looking to win the World Heavyweight Championship which he lost at WrestleMania.
McIntyre is also advertised for the upcoming Clash At The Castle PLE in Glasgow, Scotland. Therefore, fans believe that he will be once again crowned in front of his home country. Most important of all, he has another major program awaiting him in the summer once CM Punk recovers.
