Unlike other sports leagues, football brings with it a week during the season when each team does not play a game. Commonly known as the bye week, it gives a team a chance to rest, help ailing bodies recover, and spend more time trying to get better. But the downside is that the competitiveness often takes a hit. Colorado Buffaloes star QB Shedeur Sanders resorted to one way to help his mind stay competitive.
His podcast 2Legendary with Shedeur Sanders hosted by Overtime released their latest episode yesterday. In that episode, the 22-year-old revealed:
The game he went to was the second-round playoff game between WNBA champions the Las Vegas Aces and the New York Liberty. The Aces season was on the line after being down 0-2 in the five-game series.
That fight to continue their season is what Shedeur Sanders referred to. Had the Aces lost, they would have finished their season early. But the way MVP and leading superstar A’ja Wilson and her teammates played, was a display of pure playoff grit.

He and the rest of the world watching knew the Las Vegas Aces were the underdog against the league leading New York Liberty. Watching them win despite their deficiencies helped Sanders get that competitive spirit back into his mind. He hopes it will help him as the Colorado Buffaloes prepare return from the bye week.
Shedeur Sanders and Buffaloes to face No. 18 ranked Kansas State
The Colorado Buffaloes are 4-1 so far this season. In their second year under Deion Sanders, the team has shown some significant strides. But they still have to prove their mettle against major college programs.
With the No. 18 ranked Kansas State Wildcats arriving in Boulder, the game will go on to prove how much the bye week’s preparations have panned out.
Prime concern from the first few games was how the game in the trenches played out. But over the past couple of games, they have shown improvements. When going up against top ranked teams, the lines will have to show they can play good football, else all the work that Sanders’ and Travis Hunter are putting in won’t show results.
Maybe Shedeur Sanders should have taken his entire team along to watch A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces play, as they too could have learnt a lot from the competition between championship winning teams and players.
