- Shedeur Sanders addresses negative narratives about his relationship with head coach Todd Monken.
- He emphasizes the need for media to adopt a more positive attitude towards the team.
- Sanders asserts his confidence and downplays external opinions on his performance and status.
Ever since Shedeur Sanders declared for the NFL Draft, anything and everything he does has been scrutinized, criticized, or at least talked about.
Whether it was his demeanor leading up to the draft, or the setup he had at his house, or even his statements to the public via social media, there was not one instance where it seemed as if he was getting support more than hate.
That sentiment continued even after he performed well for someone who did not have an offseason to practice with the first team. Now, it continues into his second season, this time involving his new head coach.
Since Todd Monken first arrived at the Cleveland Browns’ facilities, fans have nitpicked and created narratives surrounding his relationship with Shedeur Sanders.
Since most of them are negative, which makes it easy for them to trend on social media, reporters at the team’s media facilities asked the quarterback about it.
Coach Monken great, and all the other coaches on the staff… It’s a new vibe and a new energy. The only thing missing is y’all. We need y’all to have a new vibe, a new energy… We can’t have too much negativity going on… So, let’s approach this with a better attitude, even coming from y’all also.

The signal caller essentially first praised Todd Monken and his coaching staff for appreciating the players. Then, he asked the media to bring the same positive energy, as he felt that the Browns’ success depends on collective positivity.

At the same time, Shedeur Sanders reminded them that he does not want media personnel’s children to suffer or be engulfed in the negativity they are bringing.
Shedeur Sanders gives epic response to reporter’s question
Sanders tried to let the members of the media know that it is them channeling the negativity every now and then. There was another instance where a question seemed questionable.
The reporter asked the Browns quarterback if he felt he was ‘the man’ here, considering he was the leading star at both Jackson State and Colorado.
I feel like I was the man. I don’t let nobody else dictate how I feel by myself. If you allow that, then you are living for the wrong reasons.
Shedeur Sanders replied
The 24-year-old quarterback answered in a way that should silence that line of questioning for a while. Even though he was smiling at first, his stern facial expression later indicated that he was not happy about that question.

Maybe that is why he stated that those in the media should stop with the negative narratives. It seems Shedeur Sanders knows all too well that they are trying to provoke him into saying something controversial, just as they tried to do last season.
Shedeur Sanders trails Deshaun Watson slightly in practice
One of the reasons reporters are trying to get something controversial out of Shedeur Sanders is that head coach Todd Monken has repeatedly stated that there is no designated QB1 at the moment.

They felt that the Texas native saying something along the lines of how he felt when Kevin Stefanski named Dillon Gabriel the starter last season would become trending news.
But it seems Sanders wants his performance on the field to do the talking. ESPN Cleveland reported that out of the three quarterbacks currently on the Cleveland Browns, the fifth-round pick trails Deshaun Watson slightly.

From their graphic, it is clear that Gabriel is firmly in third place and will probably stay there. But the real question is who will start come Week 1. So far, it seems there is no clear answer.
