Sheryl Swoopes and Caitlin Clark

WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes has been one of the most respected voice in the WNBA. But recently, Swoopes had faced a lot of backlash from WNBA fans and analyst over her comments on the Indiana Fever rookie, Caitlin Clark. Swoopes had constantly been seen downplaying Clark’s achievements and milestones throughout her rookie season. Many fans, especially those of the Fever, were not pleased with her comments.

Recently, Sheryl Swoopes appeared as a guest on Angel Reese‘s podcast, “Unapologetically Angel.” During the episode, Swoopes took the opportunity to clarify her recent statements about Caitlin Clark. She explained that she often compares herself to WNBA stars who wear her jersey number, 22.

In her discussion, Swoopes specifically mentioned Caitlin Clark and A’ja Wilson as notable players who also wear the number 22. Swoopes remarked that there has been an unnecessary amount of controversy surrounding her comments about the Indiana Fever’s rookie.

All of that is stupid to me. It’s not true, it’s all stupid. Like, when I look at the number 22s in the league, like I was 22, A’ja’s 22, Caitlin’s 22, like those are some hell of a good number 22s. And we’re all a part of the Nike family. A lot of the stuff people are trying to say is there, it just does not exist.

Sheryl Swoopes said

In a later episode of the podcast, Swoopes openly acknowledged her mistake regarding the comments she made about Clark in February. She had engaged in a heated debate with veteran analyst Stephen A. Smith about Clark, during which Smith even went so far as to call Swoopes insane on his show. The situation escalated significantly when Swoopes deliberately downplayed Clark and her accomplishments while discussing the Indiana Fever.

Clark has certainly had one of the best rookie seasons in the WNBA in the recent years. Many former stars and analysts have given Clark her flowers and have said many praising words. Despite of all the criticism from Swoopes, Caitlin Clark is on the road to become one of the all-time greats in the WNBA.

Sheryl Swoopes calls Angel Reese one of the best rebounders in the league today, next to A’ja Wilson

Since entering the league, Chicago Sky star Angel Reese has proven to be one of the most formidable forces on the court. Reese has made her name in the WNBA with her great rebounding skills and even went on to break many rebounding records in her rookie season.

Recently in Angel Reese’s podcast, Sheryl Swoopes showered high praise on the Chicago star and her rebounding skills. Swoopes addressed the comparison between Reese and NBA legend Dennis Rodman. According to Swoopes, Reese should not be compared to Rodman and is in a league of her own as one of the WNBA’s elite defenders.

Swoopes even noted that Angel Reese and A’ja Wilson are the best rebounders in the WNBA right now. Reese had a great rookie and broke many records throughout the season.

However, during the final leg of the season, Reese suffered an injury which ended her campaign. Reese will be aiming to get back stronger and become one of the top stars in the league.
