“Shows what I’m capable of” Daniil Medvedev warns Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem after claiming Nitto ATP Finals title

Daniil Medvedev won the Nitto ATP Finals 2020 after defeating Dominic Thiem 4-6, 7-6, 6-4. Moreover, he became the only player to vanquish the TOP-3 players in history at this event to do so.
After being unsuccessful against the Top-10 since October of last year, the Russian’s last 7 victories are against them. Further, he remained undefeated at this championship and lifted his second consecutive title after a dream run in Paris Masters.

Daniil recounts the hope this victory gives him

Medvedev’s victory in London was by no means an easy one. His opponent in the final showdown, Thiem, became a Grand Slam champion with his U.S Open win and one of the most aggressive players to ever exist.
Citing the obstacles that he overcame during their clash, the Russian stated, “It was the toughest victory in my life.” He proceeded to credit Domi for this as he “is a really tough player to play.”
Thiem was close to winning his maiden year-end championship in straight sets when Daniil refused to backdown in the 2nd set and eventually claimed the third.
Recognising the brink of defeat that he was on, Daniil added, “He was really close to winning. I managed to stay there.”
He went on to pat himself on the back for tiring a player of Dominic’s stature “in a three-set match, not five-set one.”
In addition, Daniil pointed out the hoops he jumped through to reap this tremendous result. He ousted Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, two of the best sportspeople to grace the world. Pointing this out, Daniil said, “I beat the best players in the world. (It) means a lot. Shows what I’m capable of. My level of game here, especially (in) the last two matches I won (was) just unbelievable. It can give me a lot for my future career.”
Daniil seems to be on board with his achievements and appears to be navigating through them well enough. He will aim to channel what he has learned after understanding what he’s capable of doing on the court, when he is physically and mentally tuned in.
