Shubman Gill to be included in the 2024 T20 World Cup squad ahead of Yashasvi Jaiswal
With months left for the 2024 T20 World Cup, there has been a lot of chatter regarding the composition of the Indian squad. One topic has been the selection of Shubman Gill in the squad.
Despite great form in the past few seasons in the IPL, he has not yet made a mark on the international level. In the 14 matches he has played, he has scored 335 runs, which includes one fifty and century.
On the other side, young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has become a regular in the Indian T20 side. In 17 matches, he has hit 502 runs with an incredible strike rate of 161.9. He also has 1 century and four fifties for India.
The selection team will now have to pick between Gill and Jaiswal, and the GT captain has the upper hand. With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli opening, Gill will travel with the Indian team as the back-up opener of the side.
