Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese may have arrived in the WNBA just three years ago, but both are without a doubt the needles that are moving the league forward at a relentless pace.

They are two young superstars who have drawn millions of new fans to the league. They may not appreciate the league or the media for casting them as rivals, but so far, everything going on around them screams rivalry.

It is more like Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. Two players who clashed in college, won against each other, and continued it into their professional careers.

They may play two different positions, but every second they are on the court, they are being compared. Even off the court, anything and everything the two do is scrutinized against each other.

That is why when Angel Reese’s signature shoe, the Reebok AR1, released last year, Caitlin Clark’s fans were mad that Nike was taking its sweet time to create hers. Now that the Caitlin 1 has finally been unveiled, it was time for the Indiana Fever superstar to wear them for the first time in a competitive game.

The fact that the point guard and Nike chose to unveil it on the day the Fever clash against the Dream at Gainbridge Fieldhouse says everything that is to be known about this rivalry.

No wonder that when Caitlin Clark arrived with her new signature sneakers in hand, Reese did the same, arriving at the arena with her AR1s in her hand. The comparative photographs have since gone viral.

Caitlin Clark could not sleep ahead of signature shoe debut

The rivalry between the two will certainly define how their careers will pan out. But Angel Reese has had time to market her shoe. Caitlin Clark, on the other hand, is just going to start showing it off.

I didn’t sleep very well, because I was just so excited. I kind of felt like a kid on Christmas.

Caitlin Clark told reporters

The Iowa native reiterated that this shoe has resulted from nearly two years of design and development. A lot of thought process has gone into it, which is why she could not sleep from excitement when it was time to unveil it.

The pictures were already out on social media yesterday, and she has been doing her bit, throwing up easter eggs in a bid to promote them.

Now, since it is time to wear them, it adds another layer of excitement. Since it is a childhood dream coming true, her constant giggles and wide smiles were a dead giveaway about how she feels about her shoe.

Caitlin Clark feels awkward about people taking pictures of her feet

Caitlin Clark is one of those players who is not shy when around a camera. She beams at every opportunity, so that whoever is taking the picture gets her best bits.

But now her shoes have become more important than she is. That is why it has become an awkward 24 hours for her now that everyone wants pictures of her feet.

I’ve never had so many people staring at my feet when I was warming up. Or taking pictures of my feet, which is a little weird. But I’ll let it slide in this scenario.

Caitlin Clark revealed

The two-time All-Star was smiling when she said this, knowing that those pictures might not stop anytime soon. Everyone wants every detail of the shoe captured, which Nike is banking on to revive its fortunes.

Thankfully, it might not be an awkward foot fetish like that of a certain NBA superstar. Rather, it is the introduction of Nike’s most important product in a long time.
