The much anticipated Clay season is here and the women’s clay court tennis, with some of the top names in the circuit head to the coveted WTA 500 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix at Stuttgart. The tournament will also feature World No.3 Simona Halep, who is making a comeback from an injury.
Halep, who won the 2018 French Open, also earned the title of the ‘queen of clay’ by some fans. The two-time Grand Slam champion won a tricky second-round tie at Miami before withdrawing from the event with an injury.
Twice a semifinalist in Stuttgart, Halep isn’t much of a fan of the conditions in Stuttgart. “I’ve played good matches and beaten good players here. So, I can’t say I don’t like it because I do, but it’s just a little bit tougher to win the tournament,” she said.

Halep said that she has had some treatment on her shoulder and is feeling much better before he hits the courts in Stuttgart.
“I had more than two weeks of break and had some treatment on my shoulder,” she assures. “I feel much better now and haven’t had pain in the last few days that I’ve practiced, both home and here. I feel fit, and hopefully I can stay like that during the matches, as well, because matches are different than practices.”
The world No. 3 is scheduled to headline this week’s Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, alongside world No. 1 Ashleigh Barty. Halep’s longtime coach Darren Cahill flew in to help his charge prepare for her grueling red-dirt campaign.
