Simona Halep withdrew from the Qatar Open last week, and now she is back in her home country of Romania. Back home she has decided to raise awareness about the Covid vaccine by getting herself vaccinated in public.

In Eastern Europe there is a growing speculation that the Covid Vaccine is not good for you, and that thought has been fueled more by celebrities like Novak Djokovic. Djokovic who hails from the Eastern European country of Serbia has said publicly that he will not be taking the vaccine.

In circumstances such as these, it’s imperative that pro-vaccine celebrities, like Simona Halep, do their bit by coming out and supporting the cause.

Olympic athletes in Romania are first in the Covid vaccine queue

The Romanian Government has allowed all Tokyo bound athletes to have first use of the Covid vaccine. So, if you are an athlete who will represent Romania at the Tokyo Olympics 2021, you will get vaccinated first. Simona Halep is one such athlete. The world no.3 will represent her country in both singles and doubles tennis at the Tokyo Olympics 2021.

Simona Halep, the Wimbledon champion from 2019, hasn’t had a great start to the season in 2021. She came into the Australian Summer with a fourth round exit at the French Open. Once in Australia, things were not that different.

Neither could she win the warm up event nor did she go beyond the Quarter Finals of the Australian Open. Halep has set such high standards for herself, that anything less than a Finals appearance seems like a failure.
