Jannik Sinner‘s coach Simone Vagnozzi has given a much-needed injury update of the World No.1 ahead of the US Open final. The Italian is set to play arch-rival Carlos Alcaraz in a highly-anticipated clash at Flushing Meadows.

Vagnozzi has claimed that Sinner had an abdominal issue during the US Open semifinal. However, things are looking better after a treatment with a physiotherapist. Sinner didn’t take the practice courts on Saturday, but there are reports that he might have trained indoors. Vagnozzi said on UbiTennis::

He had some abdominal discomfort at one point, but after treatment with the physiotherapist, it’s gone away. I don’t think it’s anything serious. He’s very calm ahead of Sunday.

Sinner took a medical timeout after the second set against Felix Auger-Aliassime. The top seed left the court and got treated before improving his level and getting past the Canadian. Now, he prepares himself for the final against Alcaraz. Their last match lasted only five games as Sinner had to retire from the Cincinnati Open final due to a virus.

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner prepare for high-stakes US Open clash

Top seed Jannik Sinner and second seed Carlos Alcaraz are set for a blockbuster finish to the 2025 Grand Slam season at the US Open. The two rivals have shared the last seven major titles between them. On Sunday in New York, they will make history as the first players in the Open Era to meet in three Slam finals in the same season. This time, the prize is bigger than just the trophy.

The winner inside Arthur Ashe Stadium will also claim the No. 1 spot in the PIF ATP Rankings. Sinner has held the top position for 65 straight weeks. Alcaraz, meanwhile, is fighting to return to the summit for the first time since September 2023. Both men know the match carries more than just prestige.

The result could also shape the Year-End No. 1 battle. Alcaraz currently leads the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin by 1,890 points. A US Open title would allow Sinner to cut that gap to 1,190. Regardless of the outcome, both have already sealed their place at the Nitto ATP Finals.

Their rivalry has become one of the sport’s great storylines. It was at the 2022 US Open that Alcaraz saved match point against Sinner in a classic quarter-final on his way to the title. Since then, their encounters have rarely disappointed. This year alone they have met in Paris and Wimbledon finals, and now New York awaits their latest chapter.

Ticket prices confirmed for the US Open final

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will meet in the 2025 US Open final on Sunday, a matchup that surprises no one. Alcaraz reached the championship match with a straight-sets win over Novak Djokovic, 6-4, 7-6(4), 6-2.

The Spaniard, already a five-time Grand Slam winner, looked dominant throughout. Sinner earned his place by beating Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, overcoming serving struggles with sharp play on key points.

This will be their third consecutive Slam final of the season. In Paris, Alcaraz edged Sinner in a dramatic five-set battle. At Wimbledon, Sinner struck back with a four-set victory to claim the title. Their rivalry has quickly become one of the most captivating in the sport, and now the spotlight shifts to New York.

Oddsmakers give Sinner a slight edge heading into the final. The Italian has won the last three hard-court majors, making him the man to beat. Still, demand to see either of them is through the roof. The cheapest tickets on Ticketmaster for the final are listed at more than $760, with some closer to $800.

Courtside seats are a luxury for only the wealthiest fans, with prices starting around $12,000. For those willing to pay, the stakes are enormous. Should Alcaraz win in straight sets, he would become the first man to capture the US Open without losing a set. For both players and fans, history is on the line inside Arthur Ashe Stadium.
