Jannik Sinner vs. Novak Djokovic: Match Preview
Novak Djokovic‘s last match was the Shanghai Masters final, where he lost to Jannik Sinner. The Serbian has not had a strong season in 2024, losing his World No. 1 ranking and failing to win any of the four Grand Slam titles.
However, Djokovic is still in contention for ATP Finals qualification. His result in the Shanghai final has boosted his chances of returning to the final showdown in Italy, where he is the defending champion.
On the other hand, Sinner has already qualified for the ATP World Tour Finals after having a career-best season in 2024. The Italian has won two of the four Grand Slam titles and a total of seven ATP titles this year. He will enter the match with full confidence after beating Daniil Medvedev in straight sets in the Kings Slam quarterfinal. This marks the fourth time he has defeated the Russian this year.
Jannik Sinner vs. Novak Djokovic: Match Prediction
Jannik Sinner has had Novak Djokovic’s number recently, joining an elite group of players who have beaten the Serbian three consecutive times. In addition to the Shanghai final, their only other meeting in 2024 was in the Australian Open semifinals.
What is even more surprising is that Djokovic hasn’t had a breakpoint on Sinner’s serve in either of their 2024 matches. Djokovic’s last breakpoint against the Italian came in the Davis Cup finals last year.
Sinner was down 0/40 at 4-5 in the final set before reeling off five straight points to win the set 7-5. Given the World No. 1’s dominance this year, particularly against Djokovic, he is expected to make it four wins in a row against the 24-time Grand Slam champion.
Prediction: Jannik Sinner to win in three sets.
