For Angel Reese, the past few days have not been something to be proud of. She is known for speaking what is on her mind anyway, but it seems her message has been taken a bit too seriously by her team.

The 23-year-old expressed her frustrations after struggling through another losing season. She told the Chicago Tribune that she wanted the Chicago Sky front office to invest in better players, as she wants to win games.

After her current teammates felt her words were a slight towards them, she apologized. Then the franchise decided to punish her for throwing the team under the bus.

Since that announcement, the Maryland native has not played a minute of basketball. In their final game of the season, the star forward decided to head to their home arena in casuals.

She sat alongside her team and did not seem as disconnected as she was in those previous games, and even cheered when her team mounted a late charge against their 91-86 loss to the New York Liberty.

After the game, cameras picked up the superstar walking around the arena signing photographs, taking selfies with fans, and waving at them. It would seem normal as if it were a goodbye for the season. Then Angel Reese dropped this message on X.

I love y’all.

When one looks at the events that have occurred over these past few days, this message would seem as if she were saying her goodbyes to the Chicago Sky fans who have loved her.

Fans send love to Angel Reese on potential farewell

When clips of her engaging with fans reached social media, her fans felt as if she was bidding farewell to the franchise. Her body language felt as if she were aware that the franchise might trade her in the offseason.

Unless Angel Reese engages with her teammates in the offseason and mends the differences, the franchise will likely look to stop this impasse from getting out of hand.

Her criticism brought to light the alleged dysfunction within the Chicago Sky, and that could deter top free agents from signing with them. The only way the situation can improve is if they retain Angel Reese.

Since it depends on the franchise what they do with her, fans believe their recent actions seem to indicate that her time with the Chicago Sky is up.

They poured out messages of support and love towards the WNBA rebounding phenom, with some hoping she would stay in Chicago. Check out examples of those comments below.

If their situation mends, fans will be monitoring what the Sky do in the offseason. If they do sign top free agents, it will be a sign that the franchise listened to the demands of their best player.

On the contrary, if they choose to trade her away, it will signal to her fans that they prefer to go with their system. It might lead to a lot of backlash, as fans will then direct negativity towards the franchise.

Angel Reese mentored Maddy Westbeld to a career-high performance

In their last regular-season game, the Chicago Sky started slow and fell back to a double-digit deficit. Then in the 2nd half, rookie forward Maddy Westbeld started to heat up.

Clips revealed that Angel Reese was mentoring the Notre Dame star during timeouts. Towards the end of the game, it seemed as if the mentoring helped as Westbeld ended up scoring a career-high 25 points.

When the game was over, Reese went up and congratulated the forward, and both were in high spirits. During the post-game press conference, reporters asked the rookie if Reese mentored her throughout the season.

All season long, she’s been telling me to stay confident and that the work will show. And so I really just appreciate her for always saying that and always having my back.

Maddy Westbeld replied

It will be a good aspect to look into as the rookie was largely glued to the bench for much of the season. Her ability to score in bunches will give the Chicago Sky an additional scoring option.

If they bring Angel Reese back, the two forwards, along with center Kamilla Cardoso, could be a part of a three-pronged attack that can upset opposing teams.
