‘Something on some level is going on’ – Chael Sonnen feels that Georges St-Pierre will take on Khabib Nurmagomedov some day
Georges St-Pierre

Chael Sonnen believes that the reason, one of the greatest fighters of all time – Georges St-Pierre always keeps himself in shape is not only due to structured life, but also due to the fact that he might take on Khabib Nurmagomedov, some day. Though, the two have retired – there are always rumors afloat that both the fighters might come out of retirement for a one-off contest. GSP himself, once revealed that he would come out of retirement, only if he faced Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Throwing more light upon this, Chael Sonnen, speaking in his own channel revealed that something was going on since GSP was maintaining his weight and never stopped training at all.

“His life is extremely structured” – Chael Sonnen

YouTube video

“His life is extremely structured, and it’s extremely structured around mixed martial arts and training and preparation thereof, but he doesn’t have a fight, and he’s made it clear that he’s not ever gonna have a fight unless it is with Khabib Nurmagomedov, and by the way, that’s why we spoke to him when the fight was over, because Khabib saying ‘I’m retired’ ends any chance or hope of Georges coming back. Georges has not stopped training, twice a day, everyday, while maintaining his weight and continuing the first of every month to do a five-day distilled water fast. So something is going on. Something on some level is going on. Does that turn into fruition, where it plays itself out?” [via Sportskeeda]

GSP last fought against Michael Bisping, way back in 2017, which he ultimately won. The Canadian, considered by many as one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time, announced his retirement in the year 2019. But, even now, one can check out his social media pages, where he continues to stick to his strict workout regimen, and remains in shape. Khabib Nurmagomedov, on the other hand, retired earlier this year after beating Justin Gaethje at UFC 254. Although, it is almost certain that the Dagestani wouldn’t return to the octagon, a marquee clash like this – in the form of Georges St-Pierre can go a long way in luring anyone to come back out of retirement.

Will we get to see both of them in action next year?
