The latest episode of Raw saw the return of a superstar who had been out with an injury for 10 months. The name in question is Sonya Deville, who suffered a horrific ACL injury in July last year. The Jersey Devil was seen backstage talking to Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark. After her long-awaited hiatus, she broke her silence on social media to announce her arrival.

Sonya Deville took to X, shared a picture of herself backstage at Raw, and announced her return to the Stamford-based company. She appeared on screen, introducing herself to Zoey Stark and exchanging greetings with her former tag team partner, Shayna Baszler. However, The Queen of Spades clarified that she wasn’t interested in hearing what Deville had to say.

During her hiatus, a lot happened in her off-screen life. The Jersey Devil tied the knot with her partner, Toni Cassano, on February 10. There were also several pictures of her maintaining great physical shape while recovering from her injury. Deville has been with WWE since 2015 but has yet to win a world title in the company.

The 30-year-old star last wrestled on the July 28 episode of SmackDown, when she and her tag team partner Chelsea Green lost to Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair. Deville had enjoyed her brief women’s tag team title run with The Lunatic Lush until she was forced out with an injury. Piper Niven took her place and declared herself her partner without actually winning it.

Did WWE teased a potential alliance between Sonya Deville and the duo of Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark ?

Although they were a tag team once before her unfortunate injury, Shayna Baszler didn’t greet Sonya Deville the way the latter would’ve wanted. At one point, her tag team partner was ready to talk with her but was forced to walk away after The Queen of Spades showed no interest. This could potentially lead to Deville convincing the tag team to work with her.

Taking into account that she just returned from a career-threatening ACL injury, WWE wouldn’t want to risk her by putting her in a threatening position. Moreover, if she does eventually become a managerial figure for the fearsome tag team, it wouldn’t be Deville’s first time in that particular role.

The Jersey Devil was an authority figure in 2021, making important decisions for both brands. After nearly five months, she no longer remained a WWE official and returned to in-ring competition. Having said that, only time will tell what the future holds for the 30-year-old star.
