This season Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have dominated the ATP Tour, with each winning two Grand Slams. However, Spanish tennis player Pablo Carreno Busta has revealed that he doesn’t expect the duo to dominate men’s tennis for many years like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic did.

The Big Three in tennis symbolize dominance and a plethora of titles. Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic won 66 Grand Slams in total from 2003 to 2023. With over twenty years of victories, they have each won over 90 titles.

This season, Alcaraz and Sinner have dominated the men’s circuit. They have been touted by fans and pundits as the next big stars of the tour and have likened their style to the Big Three. No other player on the ATP Tour is indeed close to the level of performance Sinner and Alcaraz have displayed this year.

Carlos Alcaraz is the only player with more Grand Slams than any other male player born in the 1990s. With him being 21 and Jannik Sinner 23, they have the chance to win many more titles and dominate men’s tennis for several.

However, Carreno Busta believes that the duo will not have the chance to do that as other younger players will be coming up the ranks to challenge them.

They are still very young, both Sinner and Carlos. It is clear that they are very good, but we already take it for granted that they will reign for the next 20 years as Roger, Rafa and Novak did. Many things can happen, it is not easy to maintain the level of demand for so long, or the level of success to share the four Grand Slams, as happened this year. New people can also appear, another very good player can appear with four years less than Carlos, for example.

Alcaraz and Sinner will both participate in the China Open, which kicks off on September 26. They met in the semifinals of the tournament last year, with Sinner going on to win the title after defeating the Spaniard in straight sets.

After months away from professional tennis, Carreno Busta made his comeback at the French Open in May. Despite losing in the first round of the Roland Garros, the 33-year-old has hit form of late. He reached his first ATP semifinals this season at the Winston-Salem Open but was forced to retire due to some physical problems. Despite his several injuries, he looks forward to getting back to his best fitness.

I'm going to fight to get back to where I was, it's not enough for me to get into the top 100 and play the grand slams again. Maybe five months ago I would have settled for that, but seeing how I'm evolving, that's not enough for me.
