Sporting Lisbon vs Manchester City:  Manchester City squared off against Sporting Lisbon at the Estadio Jose Alvade Stadium in  the ongoing edition of the UEFA Champions League round of sixteen.

Manchester City defeated Sporting Lisbon 5-0. Manchester City absolutely demolished Sporting Lisbon in the first half with goals from Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden. Pep Guardiola’s men became the first side to score four away goals in the first half . Raheem Sterling then managed to add a fifth with one of the goals of this season.

Ruben Dias(7/10)- A commanding performance from the Portuguese international who was solid in his aeriel duels. He cleared away a lot of the danger.

Aymeric Laporte(7/10)- Laporte was strong in the defensive line tonight. He didn’t allow much to pass through him and made some important tackles.

Kevin De Bruyne(7.5/10)- A brilliant performance from the Belgian talisman whose passing range was on full show tonight. De Bruyne splitted the Sporting Lisbon defence several times with his accurate passes.

Rodri(6.5/10)- A decent performance from the Spanish regista. He commanded the play from the centre of the field.

Bernardo Silva(8.5/10)- What a stunning performance from the Portuguese international tonight. Bernardo Silva scored a sublime goal on the volley for his first and then got a lucky deflection for his third.

Riyad Mahrez(7.5/10)- Riyad Mahrez continued his good scoring form as he notched up Manchester City’s first goal of the night. It was checked by VAR initially but later given.

Raheem Sterling(7.5/10)- A good performance from the English forward as well. He provided the assist for Riyad Mahrez after cutting back in. He also set up a great opportunity for John Stones in the first half. He also got the fifth goal with a sublime hit into the top corner.

Phil Foden(7.5/10)- The youngster got on the scoresheet for Pep Guardiola’s men with a calm finish. Foden got the ball inside the box and calmly slotted the ball after taking a short pause.

Antonio Adán (5/10): The Spanish goalkeeper was not able to provide any stern support at the goal line as he ended up conceding 4 goals to the English giants.

Sebastián Coates (5/10): The Uruguayan centre back and the Captain of the Portuguese club, was not up to the mark in the game as he failed to keep away the Man City players away from the box. Coates was very sloppy at the back and could have been much better.

Matheus Reis (4/10): The Brazilian centre back was very sloppy at the back line as he repeatedly failed to provide the much needed defensive support to Sporting Lisbon. He could have been much more effective with his timing and precision.

Gonçalo Inacio (5/10): The Porutguese centre back tried to make some good attacking gameplay from the back line but failed to provide his team the defensive support as he time after time failed to keep away the Man City forwards from the box.

Matheus Nunes (5/10): The Portuguese midfielder was not able to provide any impactful ball to the forward line as he kept giving away the possession which resulted in many dangerous plays.

João Palhinha (5/10): The Portuguese midfielder tried to showcase his good skillset but failed to deliver the final end product in the match as he gave away possession many times.

Ricardo Esgaio (4.5/10): The Portuguese full back had a very bad day as he gave away the possession too many times which in turn resulted in some strong forward play by Man City. Esgaio could have been far better defensively.

Pedro Porro (5/10): The Spanish full back had some good skill set as he helped to move the ball forward and set up some good attacks in the earlier stages of the game.
