Swiss star Stanislas Wawrinka has been on a decline ever since winning majors in Melbourne and Paris. He was sidelined by injuries and hasn’t been able to find his old form ever since.
2021 hasn’t been the year for Wawrinka yet again. He lost in the second round of the Australian Open to in form Marton Fucsovics in a five set thriller. He then lost in his very first matches at Rotterdam and Doha.
The year of misery continues for Wawrinka as now he is sidelined with a minor surgery on a left foot injury. He took to social media to share an update with the fans.
Stan Wawrinka updates his fans about his condition
Wawrinka has compiled a 3-3 record in the 2021 season and last played at the Qatar Open in Doha on 9 March. The 35-year-old is currently No. 21 in the ATP Rankings.
The Swiss star took to Twitter and said, ” Hey guys, just wanted to update you. After having some problems in my left foot for a while, I have decided to do a small procedure on it. Everything went well. I will be out for a few weeks, but can’t wait to start practising again soon.”
Wawrinka also underwent two left knee surgeries in 2017 too. He hasn’t been in good form ever since.
