Mike Tomlin is currently the longest-tenured head coach in the NFL. Having led the Pittsburgh Steelers for 17 years, the biggest achievement for him has been that he has never had a losing season. That NFL record and his ability to motivate and eke the best out of players have rewarded him with another contract extension.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport revealed through his official X (formerly Twitter) account that the Pittsburgh Steelers and head coach Tomlin have agreed to a three-year extension to his existing contract. This deal will run through the 2027 season, which will culminate in almost two decades as a head coach. A monumental feat, considering the current average tenure for coaches in the NFL today stands at approximately 3 years.

He has led the team to 11 playoffs and 1 Super Bowl. A resume that is only matched closely by John Harbaugh, the second most tenured head coach in the NFL. However, unlike Harbaugh, Tomlin has never had a losing season. They need these qualities as they are about to field two new quarterbacks.
