Novak Djokovic is four months away from turning 38 but yet he’s still playing at the highest level. The Serbian proved two years ago that age doesn’t matter much after winning three of the four Grand Slams. That has led tennis legend Stefan Edberg to reveal the two tournaments Djokovic will win this year.
In an interview, Roger Federer‘s ex-coach said that Djokovic has the best chance to win the Australian Open and Wimbledon Championship this year. The six-time Grand Slam winner added Djokovic cannot be written off.
You can never count him out if everything goes right. My personal view is his best chance is the Australian Open or possibly Wimbledon, with all the experience he has on grass. Everything needs to go for him – he’s a year older and hasn’t played so many matches over the last six months.

Djokovic has been seeking his 25th Grand Slam title since last year and has failed to do so. In fact, he ended the 2024 season without a tour-level title and, for the first time since 2017, finished the season without celebrating a major title win. Yet, he cannot be underestimated this season.
He opened his 2025 account at the Brisbane International, where he won only two matches. He eventually fell in the quarterfinals to Reilly Opelka in a straight sets loss. The 37-year-old now turns to the Australian Open, which he has won a record ten times in his career. Indeed, he is seeking to win the 11th time despite Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz being placed as favorites above.
Djokovic has won the Wimbledon Championship seven times in his career, the second-highest number since the Open Era. However, despite reaching the finals, he has failed to win it in the past two seasons.
Stefan Edberg believes Andy Murray will motivate Novak Djokovic to win titles going forward
Novak Djokovic made big preparations for the 2025 season as he first announced that Andy Murray will be his coach at the Australian Open. The pair, who were former rivals, would partner to win titles together. In fact, they are already in Melbourne ahead of the showdown which starts on January 12.

During the aforementioned interview, Stefan Edberg said that Murray will motivate Djokovic to be at his best going forward because he has all the knowledge of the players on the Tour.
You had former number one players coaching in the past – Ivan Lendl and Boris Becker are two other examples – but we’d all been retired for a number of years. Murray basically goes straight off the tour so he has all the knowledge of the players who play today. But most of all for Novak I think it’s to create some inspiration, some motivation going forward. Small things can make a difference, whether it’s tactically, mentally, preparing for a match or doing things in your free time.

Djokovic will know his first-round opponent at the Australian Open on Thursday (January 9) when they draw holds in Melbourne. However, he will likely face a qualifier or a lucky loser as he’s in the top 10 of the ATP rankings.
