Stefanos Tsitsipas has endured a difficult start to the 2025 season having just won three matches. The former World No.3 has seen his ranking plummet as the year progresses. However, he remains ambitious about what he can do on the court and he’s aiming to develop a consistent rivalry with Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner this year.

Tsitsipas began the 2025 season at the United Cup representing Greece, where he defeated Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta in the first match before losing to Kazakhstan star Alexander Shevchenko. In Melbourne, he exited in the first round after losing to American Alex Michelsen, which made it his worst debut at the Australian Open since 2018.

The Greek star got back to winning ways at the Rotterdam Open, where he defeated Harold Mayot in the first round. But crashed out after losing to qualifier Mattia Bellucci in the quarterfinals. At the Qatar Open, he shockingly lost to an injured Hamad Medjedovic in the first round.

On the other hand, Djokovic and Sinner have enjoyed much success. The former reached the semifinals of the Australian Open, while the latter won the title. But, despite the gap between Tsitsipas and the duo, he believes he can beat them on a good day.

I really hope Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic. I mean, these two, if I’m able to get a consistent rivalry with those two, that definitely shows that good things are happening for me. I have this belief that the more I play Jannik [Sinner], and Novak [Djokovic], during a year that’s actually a good problem to have and that shows that I’m going deep into the draws, and that’s definitely something that I would wish for myself.

Tsitsipas will be on the court at the Dubai Tennis Championship which begins next week. After a terrible start to the 2025 campaign, the Greek star will be hoping to regroup and perform better on the tournament.

WADA VP fires back at Jannik Sinner’s three-month suspension settlement critics

Jannik Sinner’s three-month suspension settlement has been the center of discussion in sport since the announcement by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). The World No.1 doping case was officially closed last week after it agreed on a settlement deal with the anti-doping agency despite testing positive twice for clostebol.

WADA has revealed that it handed the Italian star a fair ban because they believe he didn’t intentionally take the banned substance. However, several former and current players have criticized the deal, but recently WADA’s Vice President Yang Yang fired back at them.

The whole anti-doping process is highly professional and technical, which is really difficult for many to understand.

Sinner suspension began on February 9 and it is going to end on May 4. He will be eligible to play at the Italian Open, which starts on May 7 ahead of the French Open.
