Insider Reports Stefon Diggs May Face Ultimate Penalty for Boat Stunt
Stefon Diggs is in hot water with the Patriots brass, and the boat party isn't the only cause behind it.

The Stefon Diggs era in the New England Patriots may end even before it starts. According to former player Scott Zolak, Diggs’ adventurous boat party in Miami didn’t sit well with the Patriots brass.
Players are free to enjoy the offseason however they like. The franchise doesn’t interfere with their leisure trips or luxurious purchases, but the Patriots just could not ignore Diggs’ latest venture.
Diggs missed the voluntary training camp in Boston as he continues his rehabilitation from a torn ACL injury. He traveled to South Beach with his rumored celebrity girlfriend, Cardi B, and a few others.
Footage of a boat party in Florida during Memorial Day Weekend raised ample questions. It seemed like any other party with music and vibes until Diggs brought out a packet containing a pink substance.
Take that. Don’t take all of it. Y’all go have some fun … and come back and see me.
Stefon Diggs reportedly said
The Patriots brass reportedly aren’t too happy with Diggs’ movements, and according to former quarterback and 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Scott Zolak, the 31-year-old wideout’s future at Foxboro is looking murky.
Zolak speculated that the Patriots might release Diggs before week one of the new season.
I came to this show yesterday with the opinion—not opinion, but the knowledge that it is on the table. That it is being thought of.
Scott Zolak said on the latest episode of Zolak & Bertrand
The boat party isn’t the root cause.
It’s not just the boat [party]. It’s not just the boat. There are some other things that I’ve heard that put some things in question. Are you all-in here?
Zolak added

Well, nothing is set in stone, but releasing a player after signing him to a three-year, $69 million contract could be extreme for the Patriots. The Patriots added Diggs to give quarterback Drake Maye a proper target man. If the ACL doesn’t bother him, Diggs is still a Pro Bowl-caliber receiver.
Can the Patriots avoid paying Stefon Diggs?
Zolak praised Diggs for his commitment to the Patriots by staying in shape during the offseason. He released several workout videos, hyping the fanbase about the new campaign.

However, a boat party may derail his Patriots career without receiving any official passes from Maye. If anyone closely observes the language of Diggs’ contract, they will understand that the Patriots put a loophole in place if the situation went south.
Boston Globe’s Ben Volin masterfully broke it down. Volin pointed out that Diggs had already received $4 million from his $12 million guaranteed money. He will receive an additional $4 million in October and the final $4 million in March. However, Diggs must pass a physical because it’s unclear whether he did after signing the contract with the Patriots.
The majority of Diggs’ money is subject to offset. It means releasing Diggs will not put a hole in the Patriots’ pockets.
This is all a hypothesis, of course. There is a world where the Patriots stick with Stefon Diggs, and he becomes Maye’s main man. Head coach Mike Vrabel was asked about Diggs’ situation, and he replied,
Any conversations that I’ve had with Stefon will remain between him and I and the club.
Diggs spent last season with the Houston Texans. He played eight games, recording 47 catches for 496 yards and 3 touchdowns before the ACL injury.
