Klay Thompson made his much-awaited return to the Bay Area against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night Emirates NBA Cup matchup. The Warriors pulled off a last-minute 120-117 victory on the back of some Stephen Curry and Draymond Green heroics. However, one of the highlights of the game was Thompson’s performance, especially his reenactment of Curry’s famous ‘shimmy’ celebration.
During a sequence in the second quarter, Klay Thompson found himself in the middle of a heater. Thompson was open in the corner for a three, as he has done many times before for the Warriors.
He drained the shot and proceeded to hit Curry’s iconic ‘shimmy’ celebration as the Warriors star watched on from the bench. Cameras zoomed in on Stephen Curry, who was left shaking his head.
Stephen Curry looked on as Klay Thompson and the Dallas Mavericks went on a run in the second. The Mavs were scorching hot from the field, outscoring the Warriors 36-26 in that period. Thompson proceeded to end the game with 22 points, including six threes to spearhead the Mavs shooting. However, his big return game was not enough to lead the Mavericks to victory.

Stephen Curry has often described himself as ‘petty’, as he makes sure to stand up to opponents who try to get under his skin. Even though he shook his head and brushed Klay’s celly off, Curry’s intensity and scoring in the fourth quarter was that of a man on a mission. He scored the last 12 points for the Warriors before responding to questions about Thompson’s celebration in his postgame interview.
