“Why in God’s name would I think that?” Stephen A. Smith left dumbfounded by Dak Prescott vs. Jared Goff question
Stephen A. Smith claims Jared Goff's red-hot form will keep him ahead of Dak Prescott because no one knows what the Cowboys are going to offer during game day.

The Dallas Cowboys were on the verge of losing their third consecutive game until a late Dak Prescott pass to Jalen Tolbert for a touchdown saved the day. Their next game is a crucial NFL tie against the Detroit Lions, who haven’t forgotten the conclusion of the reverse fixture last season.
The officials got involved in a penalty, which gave Cowboys the edge that was required to win the game. Despite the disappointment, Dan Campbell’s side reached the conference game and continued that rich vein of form in 2024.
The Lions are currently sitting comfortably with a 3-1 record, and with a win, they will join the Commanders as the #2 seed in the NFC. They received a vote of confidence from none other than Stephen A. Smith on Friday’s First Take while discussing the weekend games with Shannon Sharpe and Cam Newton.
When Smith was asked to choose between Dak Prescott and Lions’ quarterback Jared Goff, the veteran ESPN analyst did not hesitate in picking the latter.

Stephen A. Smith’s reason behind picking Jared Goff over Dak Prescott
Smith may be slightly biased against the Cowboys because he hates the guts of its fanbase, but he provided the reasons behind backing Goff to ball out.
Goff had a near-perfect game in week 5 against the Seahawks, completing all of his passes while throwing two and receiving one touchdown, lodging a quarterback rating of 155.79.
From Smith’s point of view, the Lions under Campbell are not the Lions of old that went 0-16 in 2008. The current team has the player and the philosophy to go and grab a win at Dallas because it’s no longer the fortress that it was in the last couple of years.
Dak Prescott’s record against the Detroit Lions
Even though Stephen A. does not doubt that the Lions will win against the Cowboys, recent history points in the other direction. Dak Prescott has won all five of his previous fixtures against the Lions and has recorded a total of 1,463 passing yards, averaging 293 yards per game.
The 31-year-old has a completion percentage of 68%, has thrown 11 touchdown passes with only one interception, and has a passer rating of 118.6.
