Feel like it’s racial at this point” – Stephen A. Smith gets cooked by fans for asserting Jalen Brunson should’ve made first-team All-NBA over Luka Doncic
Stephen A. Smith made a bold claim regarding Luka Doncic and Jalen Brunson on the First Take Show.

Luka Doncic, Stephen A Smith and Jalen Brunson
In the NBA, many TV presenters, analysts, and ex-players often give their takes on hot topics surrounding the league. Recently, the All-NBA squad was announced and the New York Knicks’ star, Jalen Brunson did not make the decorated squad.
Notably, Stephen A. Smith was not happy with this as he claimed that Brunson should have been selected instead of the Dallas Mavericks’ star player, Luka Doncic. However, this did not go down well with the NBA fans as many slandered Smith for his weird take.
Many NBA fans took to social media platform X to share their views, with one fan claiming Smith to be racial towards Doncic. One fan wrote on X, “Idk man. I’m starting to feel like it’s racial at this point. I’m sorry.” Another fan wrote, “Yet another horrible basketball take in playoff season. NBA media is cooked” Check out some of the reactions below:
On the sports side of things, Luka Doncic was the stand-out performer against the Minnesota Timberwolves in game 2 of the WCF Playoff Finals. He dropped 32 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds on the Timberwolves. Interestingly, Jalen Brunson’s Knicks were knocked out by the Indiana Pacers in round 2 of the NBA playoffs.
Stephen A. Smith regrets ‘one decision’ regarding Jalen Brunson
On May 22, the All-NBA teams for 2024 were announced. As usual, there were some arguments over who deserved to be where, as well as feelings that some people, such as Jaylen Brown and Jalen Brunson, had been overlooked. Notably, Stephen A. Smith was upset with this decision and also shared his views on this situation.
Smith also claimed that he regrets the ‘one decision’ of not voting Brunson to be on his All-NBA team.
I wasn't shocked, But upon reflection, I definitely thought that Jalen Bruson deserved to be first team. Believe it or not, even ahead of Luka. Now I know that's sacrilegious. To be quite honest with you, I had Jalen Bruson second team, but I kind of regret doing that.Stephen A. Smith on the First Take Show
Smith went on to claim that Brunson needed to perform more on an injury-hampered Knicks’ squad, before arguing that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander deserved a spot over Doncic. However, one can only argue over such takes regarding these players as they differ from opinion to opinion.
