Tom Brady’s first year as the Las Vegas Raiders minority owner has been a complete disaster. With three games left to play in the regular season, the Raiders are 2-12 with the possibility of finishing with an even worse record.
Perhaps not as bad as the recent 31-0 drubbing at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles. The Raiders have had bad games this year, but the Week 15 result takes the cherry. Kenny Pickett, on his return to Philly, threw for just 64 yards and turned the ball over once, compared to Jalen Hurts throwing 3 TDs for the Eagles.
Solely blaming Pickett won’t be fair, as it was his first start for the Raiders since moving from Cleveland in the offseason. Pickett only played because veteran signal caller Geno Smith was busy nursing his injury. Smith is 2-11 as the Raiders starter and has thrown the second-most interceptions in the league (14).
First Take held a separate debate on the Raiders on Monday, a day after the humiliating defeat. Stephen A. Smith remarked,
They say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. [But right now] the Raiders are so awful that the stench has circulated throughout the country.
The Raiders boast the second-worst offense in the league. In 14 games, they have averaged 257.2 yards per game and scored 21 total touchdowns. The biggest concern is the run game. Despite selecting 2024 Heisman finalist rusher Ashton Jeanty in the top 10, they’ve managed to score only four rushing touchdowns.
Although it’s very late in the season, Smith urged the Raiders to hand the management over to Tom Brady.
Put Tom Brady in charge… I don’t care about him being just a part-owner. Hand over football operations to Tom Brady, OK?
The $100 million man acknowledged that it won’t be as straightforward as he made it sound. Brady has his own commitments aside from the Raiders, notably his job at FOX Sports as a color analyst.
Fox [Sports is] paying him over $37 million to run the damn Raiders. He ain’t stupid at all. But ask him anyway. Figure out something. Because you need all the help you can get.
Smith quipped

Brady reportedly played an instrumental role in appointing Pete Carroll as the head coach and John Spytek as general manager, two moves that have aged poorly.
Could Tom Brady make a comeback as the Raiders quarterback?
The past ten days in the NFL have been highly eventful. Brandon Graham made his return for the Eagles, while the Bengals, followed by the Chiefs, were eliminated from playoff contention. Patrick Mahomes and Micah Parsons both suffered ACL injuries, but the most significant development was the historic comeback of Philip Rivers.

The 44-year-old Pro Bowl quarterback signed with the Indianapolis Colts after not playing football for nearly five years. He was named the starter for the Colts’ Week 15 game against the Seattle Seahawks.
Rivers isn’t the first QB to retire and then come back for a second stint. Brady announced a provisional retirement from football. However, his commitment lasted just 40 days, and he suited up once again to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Host of FS1’s The Herd, Colin Cowherd, asked Brady whether he would consider unretiring if a team offered him a job.
Yes, I certainly could. I think the answer for me would be yes.
Tom Brady said
Physically, Brady can still sling a ball, but he won’t be allowed to make a return.
I’m not allowed to anymore because I’m a minority owner of the Raiders… So, I can’t unretire.

As for Rivers, he threw one touchdown, one interception, and 120 yards on 18 completions, but couldn’t save the Colts from losing 16-18 against the Seahawks. In week 5, the Colts won 40-6 against the Raiders with Geno throwing two interceptions.
