In Short
  • Dell Curry claims the Curry family is the greatest basketball family, despite trailing LeBron James' family by 4000 points.
  • Stephen Curry expresses he is not retiring soon and enjoys playing despite the challenges of staying fit.
  • The Curry brothers are currently sidelined but look forward to playing together again soon.

Throughout the time Stephen Curry elevated himself to become one of basketball’s all-time greats, he has done it while competing against a certain LeBron James.

Their battles in the mid 2010s defined the NBA and elevated the sport to a level where their clashes, particularly those in the playoffs, would always result in record-breaking viewership numbers.

A decade later, the league still leans on the duo to draw fans at a time when interest is waning amidst constant criticism about the deteriorating style of play.

Since both are continuing to play, so are their individual records. However, the Golden State Warriors star knows he will never even come close to James’ scoring record.

What he can do is hold on tight to his all-time three-pointers made record, and the fact that his father, Dell Curry, and brother, Seth Curry, are also part of NBA history.

When the Charlotte Hornets great and Stephen Curry were asked if they felt the combination of them three, along with Seth Curry, was enough to make them the greatest basketball family in America, Dell Curry agreed.

That is, even though host, The Athletic’s Marcus Thompson II, reminded them that LeBron James‘ family was 4000 points ahead of the Currys. It seems Dell Curry believes that, as a family, they have collectively usurped anything the Jameses can or could do in the future.

Stephen Curry makes it clear that he is not about to retire anytime soon

Now that they have officially called dibs on LeBron James’ family, it should also be noted that the Los Angeles Lakers superstar is likely to retire anytime soon.

Some believe the four-time champion will likely play two more seasons, especially if he can continue to play at a high level. But his rival has placed no timeline on how long he wants to shoot three-pointers.

When I’m out there on the court right now, I still get lost in the fun. It’s still my happy place… The competition, the camaraderie, the chasing something that matters, that still gets me going. And I don’t see that stopping anytime soon.

Stephen Curry said

With this answer, it is clear that, health permitting, expect Stephen Curry to continue playing as long as he can. He made it clear that compared to the past, it is tougher to stay fit in this fast-paced league.

However, if he can, then he will keep playing. For someone who mentioned playing into his 40s, this comment might sound out of place. Despite turning 38 and playing 17 seasons, the Warriors point guard still finds his joy when he is dribbling and shooting on a basketball court.

Stephen Curry jokes about playing with Seth Curry

As Stephen Curry continues to rehab from his ‘runner’s knee,’ the Warriors have been busy trying to make the most out of a difficult stretch. That is because they did not have Moses Moody, Al Horford, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, and Seth Curry in their loss against the New York Knicks.

Having that many players out generally leads to inconsistency in the team’s chemistry. On that note, NBC’s Reggie Miller asked the Paris Olympics gold medalist about his experience sharing the court with his younger brother.

We’ve been the rehab brothers.

Stephen Curry replied

The two-time league MVP reminded the Hall of Famer that now is not the time to talk about his time on court with Seth Curry. That means Stephen Curry is waiting for the chance to play with his younger brother alongside him.

Neither of the Currys is expected to be back at least for a week. That leaves them 12 potential games where they can show the world how they operate off each other.
