“We know we can compete with anyone in the league” Stephen Curry promises redemption for Golden State Warriors

Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry

After recent reports of Klay Thompson’s season ending injury, many suggest that this season is a wash for the Golden State Warriors. But the face of their franchise, Stephen Curry feels that is not the case. With the 3-pointer duo not being able to perform in yet another season, Warriors would be looking for Draymond Green to play a bigger role. Not just Green but also James Wiseman and Kelly Oubre to blossom this very season.
There are no doubts on the ability of Stephen Curry, but unfortunately, he would be against some of greatest modern duos. The Western Conference has always been crowded with extremely competitive and unforgiving teams. The Warriors will have to make their way up from #15 last year all the way to the top, and this won’t come easy.
A lot of tears: Stephen Curry on Klay Thompson’s injury

In an interview, Stephen Curry described how emotional he felt after discovering the news of Klay’s injury. He heaped praised on the shooting guard for his dedication towards the game. But at the same time, he made a case that they can win even without the half piece of the Splash Brothers.
Steph expressed, “We know we can compete with anyone in the league. It’s kind of crazy. We know how great Klay is. Don’t get me wrong. But we hear the chatter. ‘It’s the end of for us. This year is a wash. What are we going to do in the future?’ But we are in the moment right now. It’s kind of refreshing being in that category as guys that are chasing.”
The Warriors are hoping to fill Thompson’s shoes with the recent acquisition of veteran swingman Kelly Oubre, who averaged 18.7 points with the Phoenix Suns last season. In addition, they have agreed to terms with free agent guards Brad Wanamaker and Kent Bazemore.
With the newcomers joining three-time All-Star Draymond Green, 2020 all-NBA rookie team selection Eric Paschall and veteran forward Andrew Wiggins, Curry is confident the Warriors will still be formidable without Thompson.
“It’s going to hard at first, for sure. We’ve been waiting seven months to get back out there,” Curry said. “Not seeing [Thompson] on the court, at first, is going to be weird. But I think we’ve done a really good job in the offseason with James and our draft picks and in the free agency pool to put together a really solid roster.”
He added, “We’re going to have to learn a lot really quickly, and we will need a full commitment from everybody.”
