Batting legend, Sunil Gavaskar has expressed his belief that Hardik Pandya can be a key addition to the current Test squad for India and the BCCI brass must be able to persuade him to play for the nation in whites. The former Indian cricketer has been cutthroat in his assessment of Pandya’s key abilities and how it can be a massive boost for Rohit Sharma and company.

Amidst the speculations and Sunil Gavaskar’s sudden leap of faith for Hardik Pandya in the longer format, the numbers so far for the latter reads only 11 Test matches and an unfortunate blotch of being able to sustain himself for limited times in the longest format of the game due to relentless injuries.

Yes, absolutely, they can. I think in the next two months, there should be an attempt to convince Hardik Pandya to play Test cricket. If he bowls ten overs a day to go with his batting, this Indian team could become invincible, and they can surely go on and win the WTC and beat Australia in Australia.
Sunil Gavaskar told RevSportz

As things go, Pandya’s numbers in the longest format of the game does indeed instill hope amongst the fans with a decent batting average of 31 and a fine bowling average of 31.05 with 17 wickets to his name. His current batting approach can be another big boon to the team, considering the fact that he loves to assess his situations before bringing the big guns out.
