Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather has no plans of slowing down even after years of retirement from professional boxing. As his nickname suggests, the ’Money’ always seeks opportunities to increase his bank balance. Currently, Mayweather plans to rematch with John Gotti III for his next exhibition outing.
Both Gotti and Mayweather fought each other last year in June in an exhibition bout which ended in a brawl. Despite the heated buildup, Floyd Mayweather dominated Gotti III in a one-sided contest. Now, the undefeated boxer has announced that he will run it back with Gotti.
Mexico, I believe it's August 24th. I don't know the exact date but Mexico. Mayweather versus John Gotti the third, the rematch in Mexico. So, hopefully, everybody tune in.Floyd Mayweather via Jorge Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz boxing bout
Last year, Gotti was repeatedly cautioned for trash-talking and grabbing. The referee disqualified Gotti in the sixth round, handing Mayweather an easy victory. Gotti’s refusal to comply resulted in the bout’s abrupt end. After that, Gotti III shoved the referee and charged at Mayweather. Both boxers exchanged punches until Mayweather’s staff intervened, resulting in a chaotic clash between the two camps.
Multiple blows were exchanged, causing substantial problems in managing the situation. Hopefully, fans will see a proper fight this time without such an incident taking place. Mayweather was at the Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal fight when he made the announcement. Going further, he might find himself fighting one of them in the future.
Jorge Masvidal aiming to fight Floyd Mayweather despite booking John Gotti III rematch
After he retired from UFC, Jorge Masvidal has tried his luck in boxing. His first professional bout was against Nate Diaz, where the ‘Gamebred’ lost via majority decision. Many protested the result and accused the judges of robbing Masvidal of winning. Fortunately, the result might not be a speed breaker for Masvidal, who has big plans ahead.
While talking to the Nelk Boys on their podcast, Masvidal revealed his target list. This includes two legendary boxers and a big name in influencer boxing. At the top of the list stands Mayweather. The former BMF champion also indicated a potential timeline for facing the undefeated boxer.
I know [a fight against Mayweather] is super possible. Mayweather, Logan, Manny Pacquiao. I think he [Mayweather] is fighting Gotti. Yeah, he's fighting, I think, Gotti, the rematch. But Manny Pacquiao, Logan, and Mayweather are all very likely fights to happen after this one.Jorge Masvidal via the Nelk Boys Podcast
Masvidal is a huge name in the world of combat sports and can sell pay-per-views. Given Mayweather’s affinity towards big-money fights, this could be an incredible fight for the superstar. However, before that, Mayweather has to close his chapter against Gotti III in Mexico.
