Recently, India’s new T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, visited the Yankee Stadium in New York. It is the home ground of Major League Baseball team, the New York Yankees. They are one of the most successful teams in the league. Yadav was honored with a custom New York Yankees jersey with number 63 on the back.
The T20 World Cup 2024 was held in USA. It has increased the popularity of cricket in the United States. So, there have been a lot of happy exchanges between other sports that is popular in the USA.
The Americans are now very much aware about the most popular sport in India and how the Men in Blue dominate the cricket world. India played their group stage matches in New York in the United States, and many Americans came to watch the matches in the stadium. Yadav played a match-winning innings in New York and scored a half century against the home team, USA, to bail India out of trouble.

India won the event after staying unbeaten throughout the tournament, becoming the first team to win the T20 World Cup without losing any game. The team won the T20 World Cup after 17 years and ended the draught of 11 years without an ICC trophy.
After the World Cup, Sharma announced his retirement from T20I cricket. Yadav was announced as the new full-time T20I captain, sidelining Hardik Pandya, because of his injury issues. Yadav’s first series as India’s full-time T20I captain was a 3-0 win against Sri Lanka away from home. He will be back in India colors during the T20I series against Bangladesh in October.
Recently, reports emerged that Yadav wants to play in all three formats. He wants to play ODI cricket and Test cricket as well. His performances in these two formats haven’t been satisfactory when he was given the chance. Hence, Yadav has been dropped from these two formats.
