Riley Gaines avoids Donald Trump's kiss
On stage at the Conservative Political Motion Convention in Dallas on Saturday night, former president Donald Trump appeared to be ignored as he welcomed swimmer Riley Gaines to the event.
Gaines was being introduced by Trump when the former president moved in to give her a welcoming kiss on the cheek. Gaines competed for the University of Kentucky against Lia Thomas, an organic male who identifies as a transgender woman and has since spoken out against the athlete.

Gaines appears to lift her head away from Trump’s before slightly leaning back in the incidental video. Trump then seemed to address the young athlete, however, the footage does not show that they made eye contact. Later in her address, Gaines stated that she is working to “keep female sports female.”
Gaines has criticized Thomas’ involvement in women’s collegiate swimming, claiming that the NCAA did not adequately uphold the integrity of women’s sports. “Is this really happening?” Gaines recalled saying. “We’re sitting there not even knowing who to talk to, who to complain to because this kind of all happened behind the scenes and very discreetly.”
As shown in the video, Donald Trump tried to preserve the point in his comments while joking around a little. Trump said, “Just to show you how ridiculous it is, look at me, I’m much bigger and much stronger than her, there’s no way she can beat me in swimming, Do you all agree?” Trump said.
