Zhou Guanyu is a Chinese racing driver who is currently the reserve driver for Ferrari. He was born in Shanghai, China, on May 30, 1999. Zhou had a decent first season in Formula 1 compared to then veteran teammate Valtteri Bottas but failed to replicate the form in subsequent season. He holds the record being the sole F1 racer from mainland China.

Zhou Guanyu made his Formula 1 debut at the 2022 Bahrain Grand Prix, with Alfa Romeo. He’s the sport’s first-ever Chinese driver. In his debut, Zhou finished in the points, P10 – which means he will be one of the six drivers who’ve scored points on their debut.

What is Zhou Guanyu’s achievements?

In his junior racing career, Zhou Guanyu won the F3 Asian Championship in 2021. The same year, he finished P3 in Formula 2. Back in 2015, he had finished second in the Italian F4 championship with Prema. In his karting career, he won the Super 1 National Championship and the Rotax Max Euro Challenge in 2013. As for Formula 1, Zhou has not yet scored a podium – his highest finish was a P8 at the 2022 Canadian GP. This finish contributed to the lion’s share of his points total for his debut season. He was signed by Ferrari ahead of the 2025 season as a reserve driver, after losing his seat at Sauber.
