Taylor Fritz highlights how Roger Federer’s ’INSANE’ 2006 season is better than any the likes of Nadal’s 2010, Djokovic’s 2015 and Sinner’s 2024

The 2024 season came to an end with Jannik Sinner finishing as the best player. The Italian won eight titles and 73 of his 79 matches. However, his record is not on par with Roger Federer’s 2006 exploits on the court. In fact, that has led Taylor Fritz to express his respect for Federer’s record while snubbing the World No. 1.
Federer dominated the ATP in the early 2000s even before his rivalry with Rafael Nadal. However, the best year in his career was the 2006 season, in which he reigned supreme, winning 12 titles. The Swiss Maestro competed in 18 tournaments and reached the final of every single event except just one.
Federer won the Australian Open, Wimbledon Championships, and US Open that season. Out of the 97 matches he played in 2006, Federer won 92 of them. He lost to Nadal four times, including the French Open final, and was defeated by Andy Murray once. He also ended the year as World No. 1.
In a graphic representation on social media, Federer’s 2006 record was compared to Nadal’s 2010 season (71-10 win-loss record, seven titles), Novak Djokovic (82-6 win-loss record, 11 titles), and Sinner (73-6 win-loss record, 8 titles). The post caught the attention of Fritz, who was stunned by Federer’s 97 matches in a season.
I can’t begin to tell you how INSANE playing 97 matches in one year is (Roger 2006) Especially back when Masters finals were 3/5 sets as well https://t.co/Ba6tuzru9J

Sinner ended the 2024 season not losing to any player below the Top 15. The least-ranked player he lost to was World No. 12 Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Monte Carlo Masters. The Italian also claimed two Grand Slams, three Masters 1000 titles, and the ATP Finals among the eight titles he won this year.
Andrea Petkovic gives Taylor Fritz advice on how to beat Jannik Sinner in 2025
Taylor Fritz enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career after concluding the year as a career-high World No. 4. The American won 53 of the 76 matches he played, and claimed two ATP titles. He played some of his best tennis at four Grand Slam events, reaching the second week of each of them.
He reached the final of the US Open but lost in straight sets to Jannik Sinner. The 27-year-old endured the same defeat when he met the Italian again at the ATP Finals title match in Turin. The two consecutive final losses have led former WTA pro Andrea Petkovic to give him some advice on how to beat Sinner.
Fritz won 17 Grand Slam matches in 2024 and reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open. In the 2025 season, the American will be looking forward to winning his first career Slam and perhaps become World No. 1.
