Taylor Fritz felt he had a shot at the US Open upon securing a berth in the final. In the summit clash, however, Fritz was no match for World No. 1 Jannik Sinner, who breezed past the American in straight sets to lift his second Grand Slam trophy.
Before the US Open, Fritz had never crossed the quarterfinals in his past Grand Slam appearances. The loss to Sinner took a toll on Fritz, so to cope with it, he started to indulge in ‘unhealthy’ habits.
To be honest, I probably feel worse than I would have expected to feel if you told me I was making a Slam final. I have been sitting at my desk, playing video games for 12 hours a day, eating pretty unhealthy. Honestly, it's really just destructive habits when I am by myself after a tournament.Taylor Fritz said on the Nothing Major podcast

Taylor Fritz reveals how difficult it was for him to play in hot weather
Taylor Fritz admitted that practicing for matches wasn’t easy for him due to the weather. When he was asked on the Nothing Major podcast by Sam Querrey whether he had got back to practice since the US Open, Fritz talked about difficulties due to the hot weather in Florida.
It's been so insanely hot in Florida right now like it's so hot. I got to the point at the end of practices where swinging the racket was making me just absolutely gassed. Like I was about to pass out.Taylor Fritz said
Fritz is in Berlin right now as he is representing Team World at the Laver Cup. He will play his first match on September 20 with compatriot Ben Shelton against Team Europe’s Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev at the Uber Arena.
The 26-year-old is 44-17 on the season and has won two titles. He won the Delray Beach Open earlier this year by beating compatriot Tommy Paul and lifted his second title with a win over Max Purcell in the Eastbourne International. In the Grand Slams, he reached the quarterfinals at the Australian Open, the fourth round at the French Open, quarterfinals at Wimbledon before reaching the US Open final for the first time.
