Jannik Sinner‘s doping scandal has gained a lot of traction, with almost everyone sharing their opinion on how the case folded out. American tennis ace Taylor Fritz also talked about his feelings on the matter, demanding consistency in the decision made by the authorities on bans and suspensions. However, he made it clear that he fully trusts Sinner.
Fritz feels that while the truth of the matter stays with Sinner and his team, he trusts the process carried out by the authorities. It is just the inconsistency in the bans and suspensions imposed on different players that bothers him and others.
Fritz said such differences where a player gets banned for missing their tests while the other continues to play, despite two failed tests, don’t send a good message. Those players get banned for unfortunate reasons, but Taylor Fritz believes that Sinner was indeed innocent.
I think a lot of people get banned for unfortunate reasons. I guess in this ruling they found that it's different and there's no ban, and I trust that he wasn't, you know, at fault or purposely doing anything. I just think that it should be consistent across the board with bans and who gets banned, who doesn't get banned, who gets suspended, who doesn't get suspended.Taylor Fritz said about Jannik Sinner doping scandal in the pre-match press conference at 2024 US Open
While discussions continue about Jannik Sinner getting preferential treatment, the Italian made it clear that he was treated like anyone else. Sinner revealed that he was suspended for a couple of days and could not practice. The World No.1 then reiterated that he benefitted from the quick response from his team in finding out the source of the drug and then contesting the decision from the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA).

It's not ideal before a Grand Slam. But, you know, in my mind, I know that I haven't done anything wrong. I had to play already months with this in my head, but you know, just remembering myself that I haven't done really anything wrong. I always respect that these rules, and I will always respect these rules of anti-doping.Jannik Sinner said in the pre-match press conference
